Scope Projects Delivers Coates New Workplace
When Coates (formerly Coates Hire) came to the end of its existing office lease at 201 Coward St, Mascot, the well-known equipment hire provider had the chance to refresh and modernise its headquarters. As a company servicing the mining, infrastructure and construction industries, Coates wanted a space that balanced sophisticated practicality with modern digital amenities – setting the team up for today’s world of tech-enabled, hybrid work. This new office would also bring the Coates team back together to collaborate in person after long periods of remote work due to the pandemic.
Coates partnered with Scope Projects when the project began, bringing the team onboard right from the start. The teams worked closely together to fine-tune the design to be not just functional and aesthetically pleasing, but highly engineered to support employees and their needs – such as updating AV functions post-Covid. This in-depth planning, taking time to investigate and follow due diligence, allowed for the best price, a seamless build and maximised use of resources, including the existing air conditioning units on site.
The result of this planning? The new office is spread over two large floors, with a mix of communal spaces, meeting rooms and work areas – including over 200 workstations. The industrial nature of the business is carried through the space with polished concrete floors, exposed ceilings and sprayed surfaces. The design layout leveraged from the existing space while the look and feel uses colours and textures derived from Coates branding, but with a softer tone for the interior environment. This includes accents in shades of orange, Coates recognisable brand colour.
The office space is open and free flowing, encouraging the team to move around and collaborate in areas like the kitchens, break out spaces and huddle rooms. A large, specially-designed training room allows Coates Hire to host internal training on-site, rather than travelling to other locations. The whole space is illuminated by floor to ceiling windows, letting natural light and views of the leafy nearby streets into the space.
The front of house aligns the business nationally and provides a smart, professional client engagement space. As the Australian headquarters, the new space hosts executives, board members and other visitors. The office has been designed to accommodate these corporate requirements; spacious C-Suite offices provide room for meetings and planning, while the large boardroom can host regular board meetings. The kitchens are multi-use, for staff to enjoy meals day-to-day as well as catering special events.
The project is the start of a successful relationship between Scope Projects and Seven Group Holdings, Coates parent company. It showcases the vital role of well-designed working spaces for a business, allowing management and staff to do their best work in a modern office that captures who a company is and what they are working towards.
“Scope Projects delivered outstanding results in all aspects of the project, including quality workmanship, resolution of any issues and deliverables within the agreed timeframe and budget. We would highly recommend Scope Projects for any fit out or refurbishment projects,”
